Here are the top ten strategies that "A" students use to prepare for tests:
1. reread all the material
2. review the introductory and assessment materials (e.g. homework)
3. review the outline for the chapter.
4. review the powerpoint presentation for the chapter
5. review the notes for the SOAPSTone presentations on the chapter (Speaker-Occasion-Audience-Purpose-Subject-Tone)
6. see what wikipedia has to say about the literary selections and the historical period
7. memorize author's names and what they wrote
8. predict what kind of questions will be on the test
9. try those predictive questions out on a friend and vice versa
10. get a good night's sleep
Obviously all these strategies will take considerably longer than a single night, so the best idea is to start reviewing for the test as soon as we encounter the second reading in the chapter.
